Graphic installation of the OS consists of the following steps:

License Agreement

After choosing the graphic installation the welcome screen will be displayed, containing:

The security level selected will determine the security functions available. To continue installation check the I accept the license agreement terms checkbox and click [Next].

Configuring system parameters

After accepting the License Agreement and clicking [Next] the system configuration screen will appear.

Each parameter can be changed or left as default.

Regional settings

Select the hotkey for switching the keyboard layout from the Layout switching dropdown list.

Select the timezone from the Time zone dropdown list.

Select the system language from the System language dropdown list

Authorization settings

Enter the hostname in the Hostname field. The hostname is a one-word string that identifies the computer in a network.

Enter the system administrator's username in the Administrator username field. The username must begin with a lowercase letter and may contain any sequence of lowercase letters and digits.

Enter the system administrator's password in the Password field. The password can be any sequence of letters, digits and other characters, and must be at least 8 characters long.

Confirm the password by entering it in the Confirm password field.

To set the GRUB password click [Edit settings], enter the desired password in the password change dialog and click [Apply]. The Setup the bootloader (GRUB) password checkbox must be checked in order to change the password.

If the GRUB password is not set, the administrator's password will be used instead.

OS components

Check the necessary OS components on the list. Selected components will be installed with the OS.

Optional settings

These additional settings can be used to configure the OS security parameters. The available settings depend on the security level selected. Every security level includes settings from the previous security level.

Check the necessary settings on the list. The settings selected will be applied during the installation.

Disk layout

To edit disk layout click [Edit layout] to open the disk layout editing window where the disk partitioning scheme can be set. Disk partitioning itself will take place during the installation.

Select a disk partitioning template from the Disk partitioning config dropdown list. To create a custom template, select Custom template and click [Show details] to display the disk layout editing interface.

Select the disk the OS will be installed onto from the Disk on which the system will be installed dropdown list.

Click Show details to display the extended disk partitioning interface.

Check the Use gpt partition table checkbox to use the GPT partition table instead of the standard MSDOS partition table.

Automatic reboot after installation

Check the Reboot computer after installation is complete checkbox to reboot the computer automatically after the installation is finished.

OS installation

Click [Install] to begin installation. When informed that all of the data on the partitioned disks will be erased click [Yes] to confirm or [No] to cancel installation. If installation is confirmed, the window will close and OS installation will begin.

Installation progress will be shown on the progress bar.

Click [Open log] to view the installation log. Click [Close log] to hide the installation log.

The installation log is written into the /var/log/astra-installer.log file. After the installation the log will be copied to /var/log/astra-installer.log in the new system.

Once the installation is complete, the computer will reboot automatically if the corresponding checkbox has been checked. Otherwise, a message will appear stating that the installation has finished succesfully. Installation time will be displayed below.

Press [Finish] to exit the installer and reboot the computer.
